Danthonia californica (California oatgrass)

Cool-season, fine-textured, fast-growing native bunchgrass. Acts as a biennial or short-lived perennial. Useful nurse crop for slower establishing species along waterways, ditches, streambanks, coastal prairies and moist forests, but also occurs in drier habitats, from sea level to alpine zones.
