Elymus hoffmannii* (RS hybrid wheatgrass)

Formerly Elytrigia repens x Pseudoroegneria spicata. Cool season, drought tolerant, long-lived, weakly rhizomatous sod-forming perennial. Hybrid cross combining the palatability of Bluebunch wheatgrass (P. spicata) with the productive and vigorous growth of Quackgrasss (E. repens), but without aggressive spreading. Adapted to most soils including moderately saline sites. Highly productive, nutritious and palatable. Recovers quickly from grazing, haying. Useful on both irrigated and non-irrigated pasture and range sites.

VARIETIES

AC Saltlander - Selected from NewHy for salt tolerance equal to Tall wheatgrass (Thinopyrum ponticum). Adapted to and highly palatable when planted in saline soils. (Released 2006)

NewHy - Recommended for range sites and pastures with moderate soil salinity issues. Similar salinity tolerance to Tall wheatgrass (Thinopyrum ponticum), but better palatability and nutritional value. (Released 1989)
